Orientation and Wellness
Our school understands the importance of the students' emotional well-being and how this affects other aspects of their daily lives. Our counselors offer support to the educational community, focused on carrying out prevention, intervention and monitoring processes in the psycho-affective, social, behavioral aspects of the students and the other actors in the teaching process. For these purposes we concentrate on two areas of action:
AREAS OF PRIMARY CARE
AREAS OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
SUPPORT SERVICES - STUDENT WELL-BEING
The Colegio Guillermo Ponce de León is committed to the comprehensive education of its students, which includes social, emotional, ethical and intellectual education. Therefore, it promotes extracurricular support with different programs aimed at enhancing the capacities of students in different areas. COMPASS (Comprehensive After-School Services) responds to these needs through the three programs:
English First: The main objective of the EF (English First) program is to promote the learning of the English language. EF responds to the need to improve school success rates in students with the need to strengthen the language competences and create a solid foundation for better school performance.
PAI (Comprehensive Care Program): This program promotes wellness and addresses the dysfunctions associated with psychobiological deficiencies, disabilities and social environmental barriers. This is achieved through the analysis, execution and adaptation of significant occupations, the design and application of strategies, and the establishment of a therapeutic relationship according to individual needs. These strategies allow rehabilitation, improving the ability to understand and / or express thoughts, desires and needs, using the linguistic functions required in different social contexts. It has the guidance of professionals in Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Neuropsychology.
MERAKI: This program of school accompaniment responds to the need to improve school success rates in students with socio-educational disadvantages. It’s intended for a selected group of students who need extra-help in academic areas that are considered essential.
